antenatal brightonBrighton Family & Women’s Clinic provides many different options for your antenatal and obstetric care. It is a very special time in a woman’s life and we believe it is important that you have enough information to make the right decision for you and your family. At Brighton Family & Women’s Clinic we have 5 GP’s that are accredited with the Royal Women’s and Sandringham Maternity hospital’s, to provide shared ante natal care to our pregnant ladies.

Antenatal care given by Specialist Obstetricians and GP’s in the clinic attached to the hospital. You do not have a choice in who delivers your baby. This care is bulk billed.

MIDWIFE CLINIC – Sandringham Hospital

Trained Midwives are available to care for healthy women (conditions apply).

SHARED CARE – Sandringham, Royal Women’s, Mercy & Monash Hospitals

If your family doctor has an affiliation to the hospital he/she can share your care with doctors at the hospital clinic. However your family doctor will not be able to deliver your baby. This will be done by the GP obstetrician or obstetric registrar or midwife on duty.

The Women’s @ Parkville and Sandringham Shared Care information

Referral from your GP is needed for specialist care. However, in the case of a private specialist obstetrician they will deliver your baby and you will see them throughout your pregnancy. Costs apply and you will need to speak directly to the specialist rooms. Specialist obstetricians deliver at various private hospitals; please discuss options with the individual specialist.

Mercy, Monash, Frankston, and the Royal Women’s Hospitals have public antenatal and birthing units available.
